What's the focus?
To enhance the goalies’ abilities, we start with drills that focus on edge control and skating techniques. Thereafter, we transition to goalie-specific drills that cover a comprehensive range of skills, including edge control, stick deflections, and improved rebound control. To facilitate their ability to adapt to real-time gameplay, I also incorporate numerous game-related drills into their training regimen.
The ultimate goal
The goal of our clinics is to provide quality drills with good shooting and good information on the ice. We want the goalies to get moving and work on gamelike situations.
A typical hockey clinic
Consists of two to four coaches, depending on attendance. We always do warm-up skating without pucks for 10 minutes. Then, if available, one station will be skating only and the others will be goalie drills. The last five minutes, if time permits, will be a short game.
